Green Gables, a Waldorf-inspired play school nestled in Golden, Colorado, offers young children a nurturing in-home environment where they can explore and discover the wonders of childhood.  Rachel Cooper, owner & teacher, gently guides the children through a morning of play and work, story and song, nature and movement, awakening a sense of joy and awe in each child.

Rhythm is essential to our days, weeks and year at Green Gables, where a natural flow carries the children along; transitions from outward play to inward quiet happen seemingly without effort or strife. Each day is distinctly characterized by an intentional activity and a wholesome organic snack.

Our days and weeks follow the greater rhythm of the year. We celebrate the seasons in our songs, stories, activities and play. 

At Green Gables, we subscribe to the old Scandinavian saying, "There's no such thing as bad weather--only bad clothing."  Year-round, children come to school dressed to play, rain or shine.

Children participate in seasonal activities including wool cleaning & carding,  rearing baby farm animals,  planting & harvesting vegetables, and crafting handmade gifts.
