Summer at Green Gables

Free summer play, gently guided.

Green Gables Summer Camps are beloved weekly camps for children ages 4 and up: a unique mixture of free summer play and integrated outdoor learning, Monday through Thursday from 9 to 3, and Friday from 9 to 1. Ms. Rachel has a gift for guiding play into learning while children are deep in exploration and imagination. She is educator, tour guide, and always a nurturing presence. Nature leads, and art and craft follow: weaving flower crowns, making nature art, planting seeds.

There’s no strict upper age. Children simply know when they’ve aged out. And even then, they love coming back as helpers.

The property comes alive

A green, wild land full of life.

In summer the Green Gables landscape comes alive: insects, birds, and budding fruit trees; gardens of veggies and herbs; a gentle creek winding beneath mature conifers; and gorgeous nooks where fairies appear, caterpillars roam, and butterflies flit and float about. Children learn and take part in garden activities, farm animal care, and good old summer fun.

How the summer runs

Camps run in weekly sessions from late May through mid-July: Monday through Thursday from 9am to 3pm, and Friday from 9am to 1pm. Camps are $400 per child per week, with short holiday weeks prorated. Each year’s schedule is announced in January, when enrollment opens. Camps often have a waitlist by early February, so don’t hesitate.

Children come each day with a full water bottle, plenty of snacks, and a hearty lunch.
